Are You An Impulse Buyer That Gets Easily Bored Negotiating a Lower Car Price?

Are You An Impulse Buyer That Gets Easily Bored Negotiating a Lower Car Price?

Posted on February 12, 2024August 12, 2025 By wisemagazine No Comments on Are You An Impulse Buyer That Gets Easily Bored Negotiating a Lower Car Price?

If so, you need to read on because buying a car on impulse alone may cost you more than you bargain for…
Here are a couple of tips to help you get that asking car price.

You must remember that you should stick to your opening offer and never accept anything higher than that, as far as costs go…

If you go to a dealership that doesn’t bargain, don’t worry, some other dealership will, just keep on searching!

More often than not, dealerships refuse to haggle because they want to add some extra fees to the assigned MSRP. You will need to decide what kind of buyer you are to get a negotiating stance.

Monthly payment buyers are terrible! They are bound to be ripped off because of the higher aggregated payment fee…So you don’t want to be of this type!

To get you to pay them every month, dealerships will even offer to take a little bit off the MSRP. The catch is, they’ll persuade you into monthly installments by asking you what you’re looking to pay each month; this is exactly where the extra money comes in.

Other than the monthly payment buyers, the cash ones are mostly the smoothest when it comes to monetary issues. Nevertheless, they’re generally asked, “Are you willing to pay each month?”

Just tell them that it doesn’t matter since you’re looking for an even division on the cost of the car, rather than bargaining over the monthly cost.

As a counter approach to the dealer’s strategy, tell them that you are looking to bargain the cost of the car, not the monthly payments.

If a finance manager tries to get you to report your payment method before you have decided upon purchasing the car, don’t get sucked into it.

The method of payment doesn’t matter unless you are deciding to purchase the car. Finance managers ask so that they can best decide how to screw you over.

Some dealers will offer you a better deal if you finance your car through them. I can guarantee, out of experience, that this is very the case!

Impulse buyers are, of course, the worst types of buyers as they jump into deals based on what’s “hot” or “cool”.

An impulse buyer is a synonym of the word “victim” in the market. Impulse buyers can often get sucked into the “hot” car of the moment and usually get taken for as much as $10,000.

As soon as the dealer starts talking to you about the “hot” car, tell him that you’re not interested, as it won’t be worth its cost next year.

You don’t want to buy a car that is in demand because it is the easiest way for a dealership to mark up the prices. The MSRP always looks low, but it is the extras and monthly payments that will empty your pockets.

Remember that the resale value of the car doesn’t change, no matter how much money you paid for the car. It still depreciates from the factory invoice.

To sum up, just don’t be an impulse buyer, think wisely about your car of choice, and try to pay up in cash (on equal monthly installments if you so wish), but remember to open your eyes wide enough to see the dealer’s tricks coming!
